With the continuous enhancement of people's awareness of environmental protection and the introduction of strict emission regulations, energy-saving and environmentally friendly pure electric aerial work platforms have gradually been recognized and favored by domestic and foreign markets. The battery is the power source and key electrical component of the electric aerial work platform, which is related to the performance and operation safety of the equipment. The traction battery used in electric aerial work platforms is generally dominated by ordinary lead-acid batteries, and its main advantages are stable voltage and high cost performance. In daily use and maintenance, doing the following aspects can effectively prolong the service life of the battery.
Routine inspections cannot be ignored
The top of the battery and the terminal connection should be kept dry and clean, free of dust and corrosion, so as to avoid electric leakage or short-circuit failure. If the surface of the battery is dirty, use a damp cloth or a brush to clean the top, terminals and connection parts of the battery with a mixture of soda and water, and wipe dry with a cloth to prevent the cleaning solution from entering the interior of the battery. Check whether the battery cables, terminals, and wires are damaged, check whether the joints of the battery terminals and the connection with the wires are oxidized and corroded, and clean or replace them in time if found. At the same time, check whether the battery cover is deformed or heated and if so, deal with it in time.
Refill the battery regularly
Generally speaking, if the liquid level of the electrolyte is 10mm higher than the plate, it means that there is no need to add liquid. If the electrolyte level has not reached the plate, add distilled or deionized water. If too much distilled water is added, the electrolyte will overflow, which will corrode the battery box and cables, thus affecting the service life of the battery. Generally, the longer the battery is used, the more frequently it will be refilled. Before adding liquid, remove the vent cap to fully charge the battery. If the battery plate has been exposed to the liquid level, add water to just submerge the plate before charging, and then charge and add distilled water. The breather cap needs to be reinstalled on the battery after adding liquid.
Charge the battery in strict accordance with the specifications
The battery should be fully charged after each use. Do not discharge more than 80% of the capacity within 5 hours. It should be charged when the battery is between 35% and 80% of the rated capacity. Lead-acid batteries have no memory effect, so they do not need to be fully discharged before recharging. The new battery should be recharged every 3 to 4 hours after use. Batteries emit gas (bubbling) near the end of charging, so charge them in a well-ventilated area without open flames. At the same time, pay special attention not to charging non-rechargeable batteries.
Pay attention to battery storage
Fully charge the battery before storing it, and store the battery in a cool, dry place protected from the weather. Disconnect equipment from equipment before storage to eliminate the potential hazard of battery leakage. The battery will gradually self-discharge during storage. Monitor the specific gravity of the electrolyte or the battery voltage every 4 to 6 weeks. If the battery capacity is lower than 70%, a supplementary charge should be performed. Stored batteries should be recharged before installation.
Pay attention to safety in maintenance
When checking and maintaining the battery, wear protective work clothes, protective gloves and goggles. Do not store any maintenance tools or other metal objects on the surface of the battery. The battery temperature should not exceed 60°C during use and ensure that the battery is kept away from sparks, flames and metal objects. If the electrolyte is spilled on the skin or the eyes should be rinsed with plenty of water, and if necessary, receive professional medical treatment. If the electrolyte is spilled on the clothes, take off the clothes, rinse with water and then rinse with weak alkaline soap. When the electrolyte leaks to the outside, it can be neutralized with lime, strong carbonated soda or carbonated soda, and rinsed with plenty of water.
